Employee Monitoring Laws

Employee monitoring laws are rules that govern workplace surveillance. While the practice of monitoring employees through GPS and CCTV has been around for ages, tracking employees through employee monitoring software is relatively new.

While it isn’t illegal to track employees with any surveillance method, companies must abide by national and state laws to avoid privacy issues and information breaches. These include notifying people that they are monitored, refraining from misusing employees' personal data or sharing it without their consent, etc.
